Candidates turn on the charm to woo voters
LUDHIANA: With just two days to go for Lodhi Club elections, candidates in the fray for various posts are trying hard to woo voters. Some of the candidates and their supporters are going for door to door campaigning and others are using social networking sites like Facebook and Whatsapp to woo voters.
Jagmohan Jain, who is contesting for the post of general secretary said, “Since we can campaign till the morning of election day on January 18, my team is going door to door to campaign.
I have also visited 10 to 12 voters at their houses to convince them to vote for me and my team. Our agenda is better family environment at the club, which is not there at present, improvement in quality of food, lawn tennis court and all weather swimming pool. We are also making use of other ways of campaigning like social media”.
Other candidates are focusing in the social media for the most part. “Though I meet selected persons who hold good influence among voters, I don’t go door to door to disturb voters in the morning like many other candidates are doing. My prime focus is on using social networking sites to put my agenda forward and also to counter false propaganda of other candidates. I am using whatsapp, among others to expose the misdeeds of some candidates,” said Pawan Group, who is also contesting for the post of general secretary.
