MARGAO: Maina-Curtorim police have rounded up nearly 40 suspects in the last two days, in the Nuvem burglary case, still the police are clueless about the culprits.
On Tuesday morning, an unknown number of accused attacked Raj Gomes, 61, who is critical and under observation at hospital in Margao. His wife Isabel, 55, is still in a state of shock and is unable to give the police a statement.
Police are finding it difficult to proceed as they are unaware of the exact number of the accused assailants, who attacked the Gomes couple and burgled their two-storey bungalow at Kirbhat, Nuvem.

Maina-Curtorim PI Harish Madkaikar said that jewellery such as a diamond necklace worth 1 lakh and 5,000 in cash were reported stolen but the total value of all the belongings stolen is yet to be known as the injured couple are unable to record their statement.
“A case has been registered under Sections 394, 392 of IPC and further investigations are in progress,” he said.
Sources said that the strength of this police station been increased with the posting of 36 additional personnel, but 22 of them are still ‘under training’.
