The two class IX students of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against the athletics coach of the school on Tuesday. The school authorities said that a complaint has been received and forwarded to the police. The school management will also carry out an internal inquiry.
Two female students of class IX alleged that their coach Amit Kumar harassed them sexually. They said that during the practice session the coach molested them.
The parents of the victims said they are good athletes and have also represented the school in various district and state-level tournaments.
Devinder Singh, SHO division number four police station, said an FIR under Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty ), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 and 6 of Protection of children from sexual abuse act has been registered against the accused.
SHO said the matter is being probed and action will be taken if the allegations are proved. He added that the statement of the parents of the victims will also be recorded.
Navita Puri, principal KVM said, “We have forwarded the complaint to police and the school management will also probe the matter.”
