Myriad colours of the festival of Sankranti flashed across Andhra University Basketball Grounds on Wednesday and within minutes it turned into a veritable canvas of colours with rows of women giving a creative twist to the time-honoured art of rangoli. Once the competition started, colourful designs adorned the ground. The spirit of Sankranti was all-pervasive with participants taking care to bring out the elements of the festival in their creatively designed rangolis.

At the end of the hour-long competition organised by 93.5 RED FM, in which 30 persons participated, the first prize was bagged by D. Devi and the second by A. Saroja. A cash prize of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 were given away by M. Venkata Ramana, CMD of CMR Group, to the winners.

“This is the fifth time that I won in rangoli competition ,” said D. Devi.
