1,000 illegal posters taken down in city

The cases were registered in Northeast Delhi’s New Usmanpur and Welcome, and Southwest Delhi’s Bindapur, Dabri and Sagarpur. According to the Delhi CEO’s office, unauthorised hoardings and banners were removed from 61 public properties and seven private properties.

Meanwhile, three nominations were filed from different Assembly constituencies on day one of filing election nominations. Independents Nafe Singh (41) from Burari and D K Chopra (61) from Mehrauli filed their nominations with the returning officers in their respective constituencies. The third nomination was that of Shyam Bharteey (45) — a candidate from the registered (but unrecognised) Gareeb Aadmi Party.

There are six national recognised parties, including the BJP and the Congress, while the AAP is a recognised state party. The CEO’s office is also examining the incident in which AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was attacked with eggs and a stone by an alleged miscreant in Northwest Delhi’s Sultanpur Majra Assembly constituency on Tuesday.

“A report will be submitted by the district election officer, which we will examine and then submit to the Election Commission of India,” a senior official said.
