GEGE RESIDENTS DID NOTHING WRONG

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Sir,

I wonder if it is government procedure to make promises and then fail to keep those promises. Our government is always good in failing to implement.

There are a number of things where our government is failing the citizens dismally.
At Gege there is an ongoing project of road construction from Sicunusa-Nhlangano. A number of things are not going well.

Some people were moved to give way to the project but as I am writing some people are complaining that they were given peanuts. Nothing has been done about this until now.

Back to today’s topic, the minister of works in the Ninth Parliament declared publicly that the first people to benefit will be from the area and neighbouring areas.

Now the people at Gege were not employed in that project. Remember that this constituency consists of 11 chiefdoms and the level of unemployment is very high but they were sidelined why?

It is always government’s song that once there is a project in an area the locals will benefit from it.
Now, the residents decided to march to the Shiselweni Regional Administrator to seek clarity which I believe they were right to do.
But I am shocked to learn that they were asked which or rather what kind of jobs they were referring to?

I believe the current RA is the former Deputy Prime Minister who served in the very Parliament which said locals must benefit. It seems government uyakhuluma aphindze atiphikise. I repeat, it’s our government who always says, the locals must benefit.

Ronnie Dlamini,
Siyendle
