Ranji Trophy: Assam score 393 in first innings against Hyderabad

Elsewhere in Group C, Goa 304 vs Services, Andhra take 159-run 1st innings lead and No play in Dharamsala.

Skipper Dheeraj Jadhav (74) and Tarjinder Singh (66) scored half centuries in their 109-run stand for the fifth wicket as Assam scored 393 in their first innings against Hyderabad in a Rani Trophy Group C match.

Assam resuming at 248 for 4 and riding on Jadhav and Singh’s determined batting they managed to get close to 400-run mark.

Leg-spinner Kash Bhandari (3/93) was the most successful bowler for the hosts with three scalps while Mehdi Hasan
(2/88) and AI Harrsha (2/99) took two wickets apiece.

Hyderabad ended the day two at 35 for no loss with openers Tanmay Agarwal (15) and Akshat Reddy (20) at the crease.

Goa score 304; Services to 28/2

Skipper Sagun Kamat (84), Darshan Misal (76) and Saurabh Bandekar (84) scored a half-century each to steer Goa to 304 all out in their first innings and then reduce Services to 28 for two on the second day of their Group C Ranji Trophy match.

On Tuesday, Kamat had scored a half-century. Services’ Suraj Yadav (4/92), Deepak Punia (3/62) and Roshan Raj (2/83) were among wickets.

Andhra take 159-run 1st innings lead

Riding on a superb ton by skipper Mohammad Kaif and a half-century by Ricky Bhui, Andhra took a solid 159-run first innings lead before reducing Tripura to 13 for three in their second innings on day two of their Ranji Trophy Group C match.

While Kaif took 240 balls for his 109 that included 16 hits to the fence and a six, Bhui’s 87 came off 197 deliveries, studded with 12 fours.

Trailing by 159 runs, Tripura lost three wickets in just 9.1 overs with Abhijit Dey (0) at the crease when the stumps were drawn.

Brief scores: Tripura: 151 & 13 for three in 9.1 overs (D Siva Kumar 2/04, DP Vijaykumar 1/08). Andhra: 310 all out in 98.5 overs (Mohammad Kaif 109, Ricky Bhui 87; Manisankar Murasingh 5/70).

No play on Day 2 in Dharamsala

No play was possible due to rain on the second day of the Group C Ranji Trophy match between Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand.

Earlier, after being sent into bat on the first day on Tuesday, opener Ankush Bains struck a fine century as Himachal Pradesh reached 195 for one at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
