Adding more uncertainty to the political scenario in the Union Territory of Puduchery, three Congress MLAs — E.Valsaraj, C.Djeacoumar and P.R.N. Thirumurugan — on Tuesday met All India NR Congress (AINRC) president and Chief Minister N.Rangasamy at his chamber in the Legislative Assembly complex.

Political importance

The meeting of three MLAs with Chief Minister gained much political importance as already Yanam Congress MLA and Former Minister Malladi Krishna Rao declared his leaning towards the ruling AINRC and announced that he and his supporters would certainly ensure the election of a AINRC MLA from the Yanam constituency in 2016 Assembly elections.

Recently the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee has been witnessing outbursts and desertion of senior leaders such Rajya Sabha MP P.Kannan and Mr. Rao.

Mr.Kannan had already made it very clear that he would certainly fight both the Congress and the AINRC in the Assembly elections.

Even as AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik and its secretary G.Chinna were holding hectic consultations with partymen for two days, Mr. Rao avoided to meet them despite he was extended an invitation.

Mr. Valsaraj, Mr. Djeacoumar and Mr.Thirumurugan were closeted with Chief Minister Mr.Rangasamy for more than 30 minutes.

Later they said they discussed the constituency works and dismissed any political intent to the meeting.

Mr. Djeacoumar and Mr.Thirumurgan said, “We discussed the development works in our constituencies and no politics was discussed.”

Mr. Valsaraj said, “There is no political significance to the meeting with Chief Minister.” Chief Minister Mr.Rangasamy, meanwhile, chose to keep mum over the development.
