Tension in Kumarakom

: An atmosphere of tension is looming in Kumarakom and western areas of the town following escalation in the conflict between the CPI(M) and BJP in the past 48 hours.

After the latest round of conflict that arose after a quarrel in connection with labourers on a private resort at Kumarakom, three CPI(M) activists and six BJP personnel have been arrested by police.

Five persons, including three CPI(M) activists and two BJP activists were injured the conflict. Later in the day, a car belonging a CPI(M) activist was vandalised and five persons, who were in the car, were injured in the melee.
