TDP leaders booked for ‘vandalism’

The Prakasam police on Tuesday booked Telugu Desam Party ryots wing State president Karnam Balarama Krishnamurthy, his son Karnam Venkatesh and 25 others in connection with the clash with YSRC activists here on Monday night. “Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Cr.PC are in force in faction-ridden Addanki as a precautionary measure,” Prakasam Additional Superintendent of Police and in-charge Superintendent of Police Rama Naik said on Tuesday.

The ASP said on a complaint from the YSRC leader, a case was booked against the TDP men under IPC Sections 143, 147 and 427 read with 149 of the IPC in connection with injuries caused to YSRC men and damage to window panes of Mr. Ravikumar’s car.

“We will take further action against those responsible for the violence after a thorough probe,” Mr. Naik said.

Darsi DSP B. Lakshminarayana camped in Addanki to ward off any further trouble.
