Podium fillers

Valtteri Bottas had six podium finishes in 2014, but no wins. Is he the leading current driver in this regard? asked Malcolm Banks
Valtteri Bottas did indeed have six podium finishes for Williams in 2014, including successive runners-up spots in Britain and Germany to go with four third places. But there is one current driver with more podiums and no wins - Romain Grosjean currently has nine, with six of them coming in 2013 (but none this year).
Grosjean is one of four men with nine podiums but no wins, the others being Martin Brundle, Eddie Cheever and the 1950s French driver Jean Behra. Chris Amon stood on the podium 11 times without ever making it to the top step, and Stefan Johansson 12 - but the man who really doesn't want to be on top of this particular list is Nick Heidfeld, who had 13 podium finishes between 2000 and 2011. That included eight runners-up spots, four of them for Sauber in 2008.
