Hairstylist sees growing demand for theme-based haircut

If crew cut, punk cut, summer cut and long cut are considered popular among men, then probably it is time to try theme-based styling as well.

Keeping sync with the latest fad, hairstylist A. Vijaya Kumar of MHD Family Saloon in Gopalapatnam brings out a range of theme-based hairstyles for fashion freaks.

From designing different patterns of rangoli , sugarcane and ‘do do Basavanna’ to creating images of animals and reptiles and pot brimming with pongali , Vijaya Kumar says that there is a growing demand for theme-based haircuts among men and children.

For the last 12 years, the professional hairstylist has been experimenting with innovative designs.

“There is so much scope for improvisation in the fashion world. There are clients who walk in with specific concept in their mind and feel delighted to see the final outcome,” says the hairstylist.

Perhaps his constant quest to improve and add value to his profession is what makes the otherwise once-in-a-month chore more interesting.

“There are children who ask for designs such as crocodile, watermelon, and parrot. Though women are open to try different styles, they don’t generally opt for any specific designs like men and children.” Vijaya Kumar’s creations are not confined to hassle-free haircut alone. He had also contributed to ‘Arrive-Alive’ campaign, initiated by former Commissioner of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy last year.

“I designed two tiny helmets with a caption ‘Mee pranam viluva Rs.750’ (the cost of your life is Rs.750). I felt happy that Mr. Shivadhar Reddy personally complimented me for adding value to his campaign,” says the hairstylist.

For world record

With his novel concept gaining momentum in the fashion world, Vijaya Kumar is now keen on entering world records. “I would like to build awareness among people that hairstyling is not at all a complicated affair but an interesting chore to constantly evolve,” he adds.
