RAJOURI, Jan 12: The team of Custodian Department assisted by Magistrate and police today in a joint operation sealed the local office of Power Development Department near old Bus Stand and retrieved nearly 3.5 kanal Evacuee Property land.
Official sources said that for the last many years, the office of AEE, PDD was functioning on the Custodian Department land in the town. The Dy Custodian Rajouri had served several notices to the concerned Executive Engineer and the AEE to vacate the office and EP land but they were adopting delaying tactics. The Custodian Jammu took up the matter with the DC Rajouri and seeking support they today launched operation and retrieved the EP property. Total six rooms were sealed and in one hall some computers had been installed. They asked the department to lift computers within two days and also vacate AEE’s office.
Dy Custodian A K Safaya said that in Sept 2014 also they had been served a notice but they did not bother. The Administration has decided to raise parking slot and shopping complex on this land. Some funds also stand sanctioned for it but the PDD staff was not cooperating.
Meanwhile, during operation there was some tiff between both the sides and police controlled the situation. Later, the PDD staff went on lightning strike and held protest dharna for over two hours. They alleged that some staff members were roughed up and their infrastructure was damaged during operation.
