K. Vadivel (38), a cook, who carved a niche for himself with the artistic works using Basmati rice grains, has come out with a three-foot-tall commemorative piece on Republic Day.

An interesting aspect of the flag pole with tricolour on its top is that it has been made with 1,26,000 Basmati rice grains.

It took almost 240 hours for him to complete the work.

“Like my previous works, no tapes or supporting rods were used in this too. I used gum in different colours to bind the rice and also to get the tricolour,” he pointed out.
