Film City in Ratnapuri?
MYSURU: The state government has zeroed in on Ratnapuri on Mysuru-Madikeri Road to build Film City.
District minister V Srinivas Prasad on Monday said that the officials have located a 120-acre plot at the village on Mysuru-Hunsur border. Earlier, Himmavu near Nanjangud was chosen to build Film City, but it was felt that it is not sufficient. Hunsur MLA H P Manjunath has inspected the spot.
"We'll decide after holding a discussion," he said.
The minister said that the land for the development of the campus of Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hanagal Music and Performing Arts University will be allotted near Aloka near Yelwal on the outskirts of the city. The university, which is functioning out of a primary school building in Lakshmipuram here, requires land to have a campus of its own. "We've zeroed in on the land near Yelwal on Hunsur Road," he stated.
Probe into ATI affairs
Prasad, who had asked chief minister Siddaramaiah to hand over the probe into complaints of corruption at the Administrative Training Institute to Lokayukta, said the accounts are being audited. "The government will decide after it is through," he said, adding that senior IAS officer Amita Prasad, who served as the ATI director-general and was accused of corruption, has replied to a notice served to her. Prasad said the Narayanaswamy committee set up to probe charges of land-grabbing at the foothills of Chamundi Hills is yet to submit its report.
Minister on 'dalit-as-CM' issue
Prasad has said that the party high command is seized of the demand to elevate a dalit leader to be the chief minister, but clarified that none is asking to dethrone Siddaramaiah.
Prasad said dalits have supported the party for long, and a leader from the community should get to rule the state. "The high command is aware of the demand," he stated.
