Falling temperature claims 7 lives in UP, Hamirpur coldest at 3.6 degrees

Weather was largely dry and foggy with cold day conditions prevailing at many places over the state.

As many as seven persons have died as intense cold wave conditions prevailed in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours, the Met department said today.

While five persons died due to cold in different parts of Bareilly district, two deaths were reported from Barabanki district.

According to the Met department, the weather was dry, fog occurred at most places and cold day conditions prevailed at many places over the state.

It said that dense to very dense fog occurred at a few places in the state.

Temperature fell appreciably in Gorakhpur division while it rose appreciably in Lucknow, Allahabad and Kanpur divisions and little change was observed in remaining divisions of the state.

It was appreciably below normal in Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Faizabad divisions but normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

Lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 3.6 degree Celsius at Hamirpur.

The department said that weather would remain dry tomorrow.
