Kunti Singh's daughter may contest mayoral polls

DHANBAD: 'Singh Mansion' may handover the political baton to its younger generation this municipal election.
Sources said Kiran Singh, daughter of former Jharia MLA, Kunti Singh, and sister of incumbent BJP MLA from Jharia, Sanjeev Singh, may be the next Singh candidate for the post of mayor in the Coal City.
"Though I have not decided to contest any election so far, if family members allow, I may contest the upcoming municipal poll for a suitable post in Dhanbad.Actually, it would be a unanimous decision of my family members," said Kiran Singh, who had earlier formed Koylanchal Nagrik Sangh (KNS), a non-political outfit, to bring relevant public issues under one umbrella.
Apart from participating in various political and non-political events here for the last several days, Kiran, along with some of her close aides had staged a mass agitation to protest against frequent power cuts and water crisis across the Coal City on Thursday.
Asked what exactly motivated Singh Mansion's daughter to go for mass agitation and raise relevant social issues all of a sudden, Kiran, said, "While campaigning for my brother, Sanjeev Singh, during the recently concluded assembly polls, in a remote area of the coal belt, a poor resident posed a question on today's politicians as to why do they appear before only during elections? Why do they come to the poor only for vote? The questions were true and I didnt have much to say. That episode haunted my mind and I decided to frequently visit all places so that I could understand their troubles and take all these to the authorities concerned".
"I cannot speak much in this regard but the way she is interacting the people and trying to understand their problems or needs, her possible candidature cannot be ruled out even n any election", said Rudra Pratap Singh, who is now being seen participating in most of the day to day events with Kiran Singh and others across the coal city.
Noticeably, Kunti Singh, the former Jhariya BJP MLA, had left her seat to field her son, Sanjeeve Singh, this assembly polls. Now, if the Singh Manson decides to field Kiran Singh as the next candidate for the coal city Mayor forthcoming municipal polls, the incumbent Coal City Mayor, Indu Singh, real sister of Kunti Singh and wife of Ramadhir Singh, the real brother of late Suryadeo Singh, may have to scarify strong candidature.
