Giridih man held for murdering wife

HAZARIBAG: A man was arrested from Barhi in Giridih district on Sunday for killing his 21-year-old wife whose decomposed body was found on Saturday.
Saddam Ansari had lodged a missing report with Birni police on December 21. Barhi police found the body of Runa Khatun at Jawahar Ghati on the NH-31 after they were alerted by the Birni cops.
"Ansari was summned to the Barhi police station for interrogation on Sunday," said Barhi OC Akil Ahmad.
But Ansari's inconsistent answers made the police suspicious. However, the husband broke down during cross-examination and confessed to murdering his wife on December 20. Ansari had strangled her with her dupatta and thrown the body into the forests on the bank of the Barakar, police said.
The body was badly mutilated and decomposed and the Barhi police have sent it to RIMS for postmortem.
Barhi police on Sunday handed over Ansari to the Birni police for further investigation.
