JAIPUR: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday alleged that the bureaucrats in the state are sitting idle due to lack of proper guidelines from the government.
“Officers are not discharging their duties and they don’t have any directions. They allege privately that there is no clarity about how to carry forward any work. It’s not good for chief minister Vasundhara Raje and people of the state,” Gehlot told reporters at PCC headquarters here.
He said the people of the state are thoroughly disappointed about government performance despite them giving a historic mandate to BJP.
Gehlot added that there was no internal bickering within the Congress as is being rumoured. He said all senior leaders are active and campaigning for the panchayat poll candidates in their respective areas. “PCC chief Sachin Pilot and I travelled together in Nagaur and Bharatpur. Other leaders are also doing their work. It is wrong to say that Pilot is campaigning alone,” said Gehlot.
Asked about possible elevation of Rahul Gandhi as AICC president, Gehlot said party president Sonia Gandhi holds the final authority on the issue. “Rahul Gandhi as president of Indian National Congress will be welcome,” he said
