Iran's nuclear chief: We have answered IAEA questions

TEHRAN, Iran

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said in a televised program on Saturday that Iran has answered all of International Atomic Energy Agency’s questions but western countries were trying to ‘mix things up.’

The comments came few days ahead of the next round of negotiations between Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and Germany in Geneva on Jan. 15 2015.

“Western countries attached a political history to our country’s nuclear issue, while we answered all their 18 technical questions,” Ali Akbar Salehi said.

Talking about the technical issues and obstacles to resolving the nuclear issue, Salehi said that Iran's "nuclear issue is not technical and can be resolved only through political will."

Salehi said the six countries have politicized the issue. “The P5+1 group has announced that there is still room for discussion on two questions. The IAEA has, however, almost accepted all the answers," he said.

Iran and the world powers group called the P5+1 agreed on Nov. 2014 in Vienna to extend nuclear talks till end of July 1, 2015 after failing to meet the Nov. 24 deadline for a permanent settlement.

Tehran agreed to limit certain aspects of its controversial nuclear program in exchange for some relief in international sanctions under a deal reached in Nov. 2013 in Geneva.

The previous meeting between Iran and "The Six" was also held in Geneva on Dec. 17, 2014.
