KARACHI: At least 30 people were feared dead late on Saturday night when a bus carrying over 50 passengers to Shikarpur from Karachi collided with an oil tanker near National Highway and caught fire, officials said.

“The accident was reported near Link Road off National Highway,” said Karachi commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi. “I can’t confirm right now the number of casualties, but rescue workers are retrieving bodies from the bus.”

An Edhi Foundation worker confirmed retrieving more than 20 bodies. TV channels reported at least 30 people had been burned to death in the crash.
