In a drunken brawl at a Tasmac-run IMFL retail outlet at Bibikulam here, a lecturer, J. Anand (29), and a student, C. Manoj Kumar (21), of a city college reportedly inflicted cut injuries on a physical education teacher of a school, K. Vijayan (36), on Wednesday night.
The lecturer and his student were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
Police said the lecturer from Narimedu took his student from Theni district to the bar to “celebrate” his son’s birthday (on Thursday). However, following a scuffle with the physical education teacher at the bar, the duo assaulted him with a machete. The injured has been admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital. Tallakulam police have registered a case.
