The Veli People’s Welfare Association staged a dharna in front of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) here on Friday in protest against its alleged neglect of the people of the area who gave up their houses and plots for setting up of the centre.
Following the dharna, VSSC officials conducted a meeting with the association members and assured them that loading and unloading work would be given to the residents of the area and that wages of casual contract employees would be increased.
