The 48th Ranni-Nilackal Orthodox religious convention, organised by different parishes attached to the Ranni-Nilackal diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, began at Ranni on Friday.
Catholicos of the East Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose-II inaugurated the convention at the Mar Gregorios Catholicate Centre at Ittiyappara in Ranni town.
Joshua Mar Nocodimos Metropolitan presided over the function.
The Catholicos also launched the Karunya pension scheme of the church on the occasion. The religious meeting will come to a close on Sunday. Kerala State Human Rights Commission chairperson J. B. Koshy will inaugurate the valedictory meeting.
