The slum-dwellers in the Hanamkonda city got a rare treat on Friday. Like a great family get together, they all flocked around none other than Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao relating their woes.

Mr. Rao sat with them on ground, surrounded by the residents of Deendayal Nagar slum and others, listening intently to their complaints.

Amused people in turn listened to him in rapt attention, as he went on listing out the priorities of the government and how he intends to help them out.

“You all stay at homes and do not go to work tomorrow. The officials will come to you for details. The owners and tenants will get their own houses. We will build one plus one and all tenants will get their own house here itself,” he said as they cheered aloud.

He visited Bhagath Singh Nagar, Deendayal Nagar, Jitender Nagar slums in the constituency. “You will all get new one plus one houses within five months,” he claimed.

He said he would depute officials from Hyderabad to undertake a survey and complete their works immediately.

He told the residents at Jitender Nagar that he would extend his tour for another two days and would come to their colony on Sunday again to distribute the pattas to them and lay foundation stone for the structures.

The colonies would have spacious roads, water connections and all the amenities.

Unmindful of his security and much to the concern of police officials, the Chief Minister went ahead visiting the houses.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (north zone) Naveen Chand, who accompanied the CM entourage along with Superintendent of Police A.K. Jha, IG (Security) Mahesh Bhagawath, has suffered minor bruises as he fell down, while moving in the slums.

YSRC MLA joins TRS

Later in the evening, Mr Chandrashekar Rao attended a programme to welcome YSR Congress MLA from Ashwaraopet in Khammam district into Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that he would soon visit Khammam district.
