A day after the Aam Aadmi Party released details of the ten FIRs that name BJP’s South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, the BJP leader claimed that he had nothing to do with these cases and dared the AAP to prove its allegations. He also said that if the allegations levelled against him were proven then he would quit politics.

Stating that he was “very hurt” with the AAP’s allegations which he said was politically motivated ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, he said, “there was only one minor case registered against me at Sangam Vihar police station due to a clash between BJP workers and Sahi Ram Pehelwan’s supporters during the 2008 Assembly elections.”

The AAP on Wednesday had alleged that there were 10 cases against Mr. Bidhuri, five in Sangam Vihar police station, three in Okhla and one each in Ambedkar Nagar and Govindpuri police stations. Mr. Bidhuri, however, said that except for one FIR, he has nothing to do with other nine cases and threatened to serve a legal notice on AAP leaders Ashutosh and Sahi Ram.

AAP had also said that it would approach the court and the Election Commission of India and furnish evidence about the criminal cases registered against him.

“These allegations are totally baseless. I have been vice-president of my party thrice and now, I am the general secretary. I have a good image among people and they (AAP) are trying to tarnish my image,” said Mr. Bidhuri.

Following a delegation that met Union Minister Natin Gadkari to thank him for ‘restoring the livelihood’ of e-rickshaw operators in the Capital, the state unit of the BJP said it welcomed Battery Rickshaw Welfare Association’s president Ashwani Sehgal and treasurer Pawan Kakkad into the party fold.

Besides, the party also said that Delhi Taxi and Tourist Association’s president Sanjay Samrat and joint secretary Sardar Malkit Singh have joined the BJP.
