K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, distributed Arogya Suraksha Cards or health cards to police personnel at a function organised by the Manipal University, G. Shankar Family Trust and Mogaveera Yuva Sanghatane at the District Police Office here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Annamalai said there were 1.10 lakh police personnel in the State. Nearly 80 per cent of them made use of the Arogya Bhagya Scheme provided by the State government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had sanctioned Rs. 1,000 per police employee for medical check-up every year.
According to a survey, police and medical personnel working in night shifts faced a lot of stress. The health cards were currently distributed to 736 out of the 1,123 police personnel in the district, while the others would receive the cards later. “We aim at providing model police services to the people of the district,” Mr. Annamalai said.
