Aditi Rao Hydari will been playing Chandni, in Sudhir Mishra’s Aur Devdas. While Chandni’s character is inspired by Chandramukhi (the nautch girl from the novel, Devdas by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay), interestingly, Hydari’s character is not a nautch girl. “Politics plays an important part in this adaptation and unlike the original Chandni is not a nautch girl. The fact that beautiful and iconic actresses likeVyjayanthimala Madhuri Dixit Nene have played Chandramukhi is inspirational, but there is no burden or pressure. It’s a different time, set up, different adaptation, and a different director, so to compare or be in awe would be limiting it.”
Besides this, Hydari will be seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s Wazir along with Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. “I play a girl called Ruhana who is the emotional anchor of the story and I star opposite Farhan. Working with Mr. Bachchan was a dream come true,” said the actress who will also been seen in several other films this year, including Fitoor, where she plays young Rekha, Guddu Rangeela where she plays a deaf and mute girl as well as The Legend of Michael Mishra.
Throwing light on her character in the comic drama The Legend ., she said, “My character Varsha Shukla is spontaneous, has no filters, is completely uninhibited, very naive, endearing and is completely cuckoo.”
The actress recently made it to the global list by TC Candler, creator of the Annual Independent Critics of 100 Most Beautiful Faces, “I was really excited to see my name on the list,” said a surprised Hydari. Deepika Padukone and Freida Pinto are the other two Indian leading ladies who feature on the list.
