Toddler succumbs to burn injuries

A one-and-a-half-year-old boy succumbed to his burn injuries suffered on December 24 at his Vrindavan Nagar residence at Yashodhara Nagar. Alok Sahu was undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital where he died during treatment on Wednesday morning. Police told that the child was playing in front of the house when a vessel filled with hot water fell over him and he suffered burns.Yashodhara Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death.
Burglars strike at two places
Two burglary cases were reported in the city on Wednesday. Sixty-six-year-old Haribhau Waghmare, a resident of Dasra Road, Mangpura, filed a complaint at Tehsil police station, stating that he had gone to Bhandara from January 2 to January 5 when thieves broke into his house and made away with cash and valuables worth 41,000. In the other incident, thieves broke into 58-year-old Kaushalya Birole’s residence at Ganeshdham, Hudkeshwar Road and fled cash and gold ornaments worth 64,000. Hudkeshwar police have registered a case.
Valuables worth Rs8.56 lakh stolen
Unidentified thieves made good with cash Rs8,500 and gold and diamond studded valuables worth Rs8.56 lakh from a scooter’s dickey. The valuables belonged to jeweller Rohit Kashyap, a resident of Lalganj. Kashyap told police that he had locked his shop and kept cash and valuables in his scooter's dickey. While heading home, he stopped at a medical shop near Nikalas Mandir. The theft came to light when Kashyap reached home and found cash and valuables missing from the dickey. Cops suspect thieves might have used a master or duplicate key for the theft. Police are investigating further.
Man kills mother over money for liquor
Chandrapur: Pombhurna police arrested a person from village Digori for murdering his mother on Tuesday. Accused Gangadhar Gaurkar (38) killed his mother Shakuntala (65) for refusing to give him money to drink liquor. She died of injuries. tnn
