Reinspect RUB at Khairipura rly crossing as per IRC norms: HC
Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court asked the panel constituted to suggest measures to ease traffic snarls at Khairipura railway crossing to reinspect the railway underbridge (RUB) and resubmit the report on whether it could be modified as per the rules framed by Indian Road Congress (IRC) and Indian Railways.
A division bench comprising Justice Bhushan Gavai and Mridula Bhatkar issued these directives on Wednesday while hearing a plea by Khairipura-Binaki Mangalwari Premnagar Niwasi Action Committee through counsel Anil Kilor for widening of road at Khairipura railway crossing to ease traffic jams due which the people from the locality are facing severe inconvenience.

The court constituted the panel under divisional commissioner and it included NMC and NIT commissioners, MSRDC superintendent, senior railway officials, DCP traffic and technical experts from VNIT. It had earlier submitted a report while suggesting to broaden the existing RuB and construction of parallel RUB which could be used as one way for to and fro traffic. However, Kilor objected to the move, stating that unless those RUBs are made or constructed as per IRC and railways rules, they would prove problematic and face water logging during monsoon. The court then asked the panel to suggest the changes as per the norms and make those modifications in their report.
