LUCKNOW: On his review visit to
UP Technical University,
minister for technical education
Shivakant Ojha on Wednesday said
governor should maintain “decorum and dignity” of his post.
Ojha’s reaction came on governor’s repeated comments on poor quality of education being imparted in the state. Naik has also been raising questions on the working of state government. “He (Naik) should maintain dignity of his post.
He is an experienced man and so he should contribute for state’s development,’’ said Ojha, rushing to add that Naik is a great person and a most respected politician.
Ojha also criticised the ‘Gujarat model’ saying it is just a “corporate sector model” where primary teachers are paid fixed salary. “Only when
Modi was nominated PM was their (teachers) salary was raised to Rs 16,000. Earlier, they were getting a meagre Rs 5,000. With this we can understand what quality education is being imparted in Gujarat. We here pay Rs 19,000 to a safai karamchari, and 32,000 to primary teachers,’’ said Ojha.
Lauding the state government, Ojha said in 1996 the BJP government freezed all grants given to state universities. “When we came to power, we de-froze all grants so that faculty recruitment can begin,’’ he said.
