In MSG: The Messenger Of God, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, the spiritual head of Dera Sacha Sauda, raises his voice against the drug mafia.
Produced and directed by Saint Gurmeet Singh in association with Jeetu Arora, the movie also features Fllora Saini, Jaishree Soni and Ukrainian actress Olexandra as Guruji’s three daughters, and Egyptian actor Daniel Kaleb as the villain.
Behind The Scenes
Apparently, about 13 lakh people participated in the shooting.
The makers didn’t use VFX (visual effects) to show the crowd seen in the film. “Wherever Guruji shot, his followers from around the location turned up to participate in the shoot,” says the film’s spokesperson, Aditya Insan.
For a scene, nearly 1.25 lakh people had to light up candles and extinguish them in a minute. With the help of four large screens put up as a part of the set, the spiritual head was able to give instructions to the crowd and it was eventually shot in one take. About 50 sets were created for the film. A lot of material was sourced from the organisation’s stock for the spiritual head’s rock star nights. Aditya adds, “Our people worked day and night in shifts to mount the sets.” Guruji also got more than 100 costumes made for the film.

Guruji performed the action scenes himself. He apparently escaped a near fatal accident while doing an action scene, which required him to ride a quad bike in the opposite direction of the traffic. The spiritual head will also be seen giving martial arts training to girls in the film.
Musical Musings
The film has songs of different genres, written, composed and rendered by the spiritual guru himself. While Never Ever is an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) number and also has a remix version, Raatan Baatan is a Sufi melody and Desh Ke Liye belongs to the hip hop genre. The album also includes rap number Daaru Ko Goli Maaro and Mumbai Beats Allah Ram Ram. The bidaai number Papa The Great also has Guruji’s daughter Amanpreet Insan joining her father in the vocals. Aditya says, “We’ve tried to convey 20 different messages — particularly against corruption, drugs, promiscuity — through the soundtrack.”
MSG: The Messenger Of God, produced by Hakikat Entertainment, releases January 16.
