TUTICORIN: Tuticorin collector M Ravikumar has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the district for four days from January 7 in view of dalit leader Pasupathi Pandian’s death anniversary, which falls on January 10.
Pandian, who was the president of the Deivendra KulaVellalar Federation, was murdered at his home in Dindigul on Jan 10, 2012.
A memorial was constructed for him in his home town of Alangarathatil in Tuticorin district.

His supporters and fans are likely to proceed to the memorial for guru pooja and might cause violence. As a precautionary measure, the district collector invoked Section 144. It prevents assembly of more than 10 people in a group.
