Family of Zhao Zilong, one of the five firemen who died fighting a warehouse blaze in Northeast China's Harbin city, will receive 2.3 million yuan (around $370,000) in compensation, according to an insider.

Family members of Zhao, who was declared a martyr after his death, will be entitled to a sum of compensation 30 times of the average disposable income of urban citizens, that is around 800,000 yuan, according to Wu Wanbo, the deputy chief of the civil affairs bureau of Yushu, Zhao's hometown.

As Zhao was a police officer, a pension of 20 times the average disposable income of urban citizens plus the 20 months of his salary will be awarded to his family. Moreover, an insurance payment worth half a million yuan will be given to his family members.

The body of Zhao is scheduled to be cremated and escorted back to his hometown in Northeast China's Jilin province on Jan 8.
