‘Give more compensation’

January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - RAICHUR:

Members associated with Sangolli Rayanna Yuva Sene staged a demonstration outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Tuesday demanding more compensation for the relatives of the five victims who lost their lives after a newly-built water tank collapsed on them in Yapaladinni village on Saturday.

They criticised the government for paying Rs. 1 lakh compensation to each family that lost its member in the tragedy and demanded that the amount be raised to Rs. 25 lakh.

“The families have lost their bread winners. The government should have tried to compensate the loss by paying more. The government insulted the people by paying just Rs. 1 lakh,” he said.

A memorandum was submitted to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
