A 10-day book fair would be held at the municipal grounds here from January 30, said District Collector Darez Ahamed.

Chairing a consultative meeting to discuss the arrangements to be made for the fair, Dr. Ahamed said that more than 60 publishers would participate in the book fair, which would feature about 100 stalls. The fair was being organised with the support of the district administration in association with the Booksellers’ and Publishers Association of South India, National Book Trust, and the Perambalur Makkal Panpattu Mandram.

The book fair was organised for the fourth consecutive year since 2012. Last year, the fair attracted about 1.04 lakh visitors and registered sales to the tune of Rs. 1.09 crore, Dr. Ahamed said.

Literary and cultural events would be held as part of the book fair, he added.
