Women legislators, who are members of the M.C. Nanaiah-led committee on safety for women and children, have been participating enthusiastically in the meetings. In contrast, the male legislators’ approach has been lackadaisical, said K.B. Shanappa, MLC, who heads the sub-committee of legislators. “This is an issue that concerns everyone and male legislators should attend meetings regularly,” he said at the meeting, urging them to take a “broad view of the issue and be sensitive” to matters concerning women.
