Ranji Trophy: Akshath Reddy, DB Ravi Teja propel Hyderabad to big first-innings lead against Tripura

Riding on a brilliant ton by Reddy, Hyderabad reached 487/9 on Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy match against Tripura.

Riding on a brilliant ton by Akshath Reddy and half-centuries by DB Ravi Teja (96 not out) and Hanuma Vihari (70), Hyderabad reached 487 for nine on day two, taking a 303-run first innings lead over Tripura in a Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match in Agartala on Tuesday.

Having bundled out Tripura for 184 in their first innings, Hyderabad extended the lead over 300 runs.

At stumps, Ravi Teja was just four runs short of his hundred, while Anwar Ahmed was yet to open his account.

It would be interesting to see if last man, Ahmed could help Ravi Teja complete his century tomorrow.

Resuming on 116 for one, overnight batsman Reddy went on to score 174 off 265 balls, studded with 25 fours and two sixes.

He also put on 171 runs with Vihari for the third wicket and by the time Vihari’s superb knock off 161 balls was cut short, Hyderabad had already reached 300 runs.

After Reddy’s dismissal, Ravi Teja continued in the company of the lower-order batsmen. A Ashish Reddy (39) and Syed Quadri (22) chipped in with crucial runs.

For Tripura, Manisankar Murasingh (3/110) and Tushar Saha (3/106) took three wickets each.

Assam take first-innings lead over Services

After a five-wicket haul by Arup Das, Assam rode on Sibsankar Roy’s fine half-century to take the first-innings lead over Services on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Bundling out Services for a meagre 113, Assam ended the day two on 211 for eight with J Syed Mohammad unbeaten on 32 and Arup Das yet to open his account.

Assam have already extended their lead by 98 runs with two wickets remaining.

Dogra ton carries HP against Kerala

Paras Dogra struck his 15th first-class hundred as Himachal Pradesh batted the whole day against Kerala to take first innings lead on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match in Dharamsala on Tuesday.

The hosts were in a commanding 287 for six at stumps in reply to Kerala’s 196 all out.

Apart from Dogra’s knock, handy contributions from Ankush Bains (44), Bipul Sharma (35 batting) and Nikhil Gangta (29) ensured that Himachal finished the day 91 runs ahead in their first innings.

Andhra reach 179/4 in first innings

Murumulla Sriram’s half-century helped Andhra reach 179 for 4 in their first innings on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match in Vizianagaram on Tuesday.

Jharkhand began the day at 215 for 9, but the last-wicket pair of Rituraj Singh (24 not out) and Ashish Kumar (12) frustrated Andhra for almost 13 overs, taking the score up to 246 all out.

Andhra, in reply, lost their opener Srikar Bharat (0) in the first over, but Prasanth Kumar (33) and Sriram led a recovery through a 95-run second-wicket stand.

Sriram eventually fell for 71, with 12 fours, but AG Pradeep’s unbeaten 39 dragged Andhra to 179 for 4 at stumps at Dr PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex.

Andhra now trail by 67 runs with six wickets remaining in their first innings.
