Stricter pub rules send delhiites to noida’s new year party tonight
NOIDA: When you step out to party tonight, be prepared for a more crowded pub or club, as many Delhiites are heading to Noida for their New Year’s Eve party. Owing to strict regulations in Delhi clubs, jam-packed roads and traffic diversions, not just Noidawallahs but many Delhites too are preferring to party in Noida this year. Adding to that is the fact that some bars and pubs have the permission to stay open beyond 12.30, which is the deadline for such outlets in Delhi.
We spoke to some Delhi party-hoppers heading to Noida tonight to find out what is bringing them to the city tonight.
Lesser restrictions in Noida
Manish Singh, a 21-year-old DU student who lives in Delhi, is afraid that his New Year party plans may be thwarted with the early deadline rule for Delhi pubs, combined with the strict checking for underage drinking. “Delhi nightclubs are strict about the responsible drinking rule and check IDs to see if you are above 25. Noida bars are not so strict about checking and they will also remain open till late, so we thought, why not party in Noida? Most pubs are open till 1am, and there are a few who have permission till 4am. As the clubs here are flexible with timings and drinks, it is definitely a preferable place for party-hoppers like me. Also, I stay in Mayur Vihar, which is closer to Noida, so that’s an added advantage.”
Samarth Manjhi, an HR based in Delhi, said, “Delhi’s nightlife is not as happening as it used to be. The bars and pubs here will be open for longer as compared to Delhi and we can party as long as we want. In fact a few pubs have the permission to stay open till late, so why should we miss the fun by staying in Delhi?”
Traffic diversions will act as a mood-kill
Diksha Dutta, consultant in a government organisation, “It’s New Year’s Eve and you are stuck in a traffic jam because the traffic police has diverted all the routes. I certainly don’t want this. As my office here is open today, I have decided to stay back. I will party with my colleagues here and we plan to go to the best pub in the city.” Event manager Gargi Khurana said, “I have an event today in Noida, after which it will be too late to go to any club in Delhi. So I am planning to stay back and party at a club here with my colleagues. Keeping the comparisons aside, I think the clubs and pubs of Noida have made good arrangements this year. All we need is good food and good music.”

Delhi guys accommodating Noida girlfriends’ deadlines
“For me there is no whole night party scene this year. Maine toh Noida ki girlfriend bana kar galti kar di. She stays in Noida and me in Chhatarpur. Party ka scene toh is saal shayad banta hi nahi. Her father is very strict and though she somehow managed to get the permission to party till 11pm on the condition that she will party in Noida and he will pick her from the club. So I have asked all my friends to come here,” said Deepak Dhillon, a student.
Noida is a cheaper option too for couples
Danish Verma, a DU student who lives in Jalvayu Vihar, said, “My girlfriend will join me here. We are students and we don’t have money to splurge in a Delhi pub; Noida would be cheaper for us. It is couples’ entry everywhere, so my girlfriend has to be with me.”
