One is a special number for little Eva Maddison Bairstow, who was brought into the world on New Year’s Day — the first baby to be born at Albany Health Campus this year.

Born on the first of the month, in the first month of the year, Eva Maddison Bairstow is also parents Jemma and Luke Bairstow’s first child and the first grandchild for both sets of her proud grandparents.

The Lake Grace couple expected their daughter on Boxing Day, but instead she arrived at 7.10am on New Year’s Day, weighing 3.2kg and measuring 50cm.

Luke said it was “fantastic” his daughter was the first baby born in the hospital.

Jemma said they chose the name because it was simple, traditional and feminine.

The couple thanked Dr Kim Trueman and the midwives who assisted in Eva’s birth.

Albany Health Campus has had 106 babies born in the past three months, with 61 girls and 45 boys.
