The Thackerays may have a notorious distinction of being the rabid rousers in politics. But the Thackeray clan is also known as the family of artistes. Father Balasaheb and cousin Raj are cartoonists of repute. Uddhav too has carved a niche for himself as an ace photographer.

Uddhav's love for the camera is much before his love for politics. The Shiv Sena president has published coffee table books that has a collection of his work as a photographer. Uddhav's books were a compilation of his photographs on Shivaji's forts, aerial photography of Maharashtra and Pilgrimage of Warkari sect to Pandharpur.

The 53-year-old Shiv Sena supremo will be exhibiting his works for the second time in Mumbai's Jehangir Art Gallery from 7th January. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Tabla maestro Ustaad Zakir Hussain. Around 70 pictures will be kept for display and will be sold. The proceeds will be donated to affected families of farmers in Vidharba.

The highlight of the exhibition is infra-red photography -- where photographs have been given effects in pink and white colours. Apart from infrared photos, Uddhav will also exhibit pictures of Hindu culture in Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The exhibition will feature Uddhav's favourite topic of wildlife- this time polar bears shot below sub zero temperature at Hudson Bay in Canada.

For Uddhav, it was the most challenging task to click polar bears in their natural habitat.

Uddhav while speaking to reporters shared his experience. "Its very difficult to click in sub-zero temperature. You cannot click with your gloves on. Every time I took off my gloves, it took a few minutes to get my hand to work again. It was painful and Sometimes I felt my hands would freeze. It was a challenge which I enjoyed," he said.

The exhibition will be open till 12th January.
