Independent MLA from Fatorda in south Goa, Vijai Sardesai, sought to know from Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar how there were low foreign tourist arrivals inspite of the crores allegedly spent by the Tourism Ministry on foreign junkets and road shows.

In a press statement issued here on Saturday, Mr. Sardesai has also alleged that the Goa Chief Minister has started off the new year with a series of U-turns.

First, came the decision to impose 10 per cent VAT on petrol thus reversing one of the most popular decisions of the former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, next came the

statement that Special Status to the State was not practical and not possible. Now, the government had decided to to renew licences of offshore casinos without shifting them out of river Mandovi, as was contemplated by the previous Cabinet.
