AHMEDABAD: An estranged wife spilled the bean on her husband's black money and illegal earnings to the state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) in an application recently. After verifying the case details, the agency registered a case of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of Rs 1.04 crore against a deputy collector on Friday. The officials will record the accused's statement and seek an explanation on the source of income.
According to ACB officials, N M Sindhi, a field police inspector for ACB in Mehsana registered a complaint against Kamlesh Gordiya, deputy collector (elections), for Botad district. The further investigation has been handed over to P A Arya, inspector with ACB headquarters in Ahmedabad.
Officials said that the Rs 1.04 crore includes bonds and mutual funds worth Rs 68 lakh, a house worth Rs 32 lakh, a piece of land worth Rs 1.22 lakh among other investments. Gordiya's wife had meticulously mentioned all the investments and assets that the officials verified against his income over the years and derived the magnitude of disproportionate assets.
