BELAGAVI: Fifth edition of Belgaum International Kite Festival-2015 and youth festival ‘Umang’ organize by Parivartan Pariwar is scheduled here for four days from January 17th. Event will be held at the ground of Angadi Institute of Technology on Nanawadi-Savgaon Road.
Host of the event, former MLA Abhay Patil briefed about event to the media persons here on Friday. He said 21 international kite flyers will be participating this year from Ukraine, Poland, United Kingdom, Russia, Estonia, Indonesia, Belgium and Malaysia, besides 40 national level kite flyers from Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Karnataka.

A professional team from Pune will exhibit Aero Modelling Show during the event. In order to popularize the art of kite flying, a huge platform will be providing to the school children and college youth during the event, besides a special opportunity for women and families to enjoy the kite flying experience. Around 10,000 kites will be distributed among school children free of cost, Patil said.
Popular cracker show and night kite flying will be other attractions of the event. There will be also trade fair and food festival and 200 stalls will be installed for the same. First edition of Prerana Women’s Festival is going to launch this year to encourage married women to display their hidden talent. Cooking competition, solo singing, salad decoration, antakshari, bridal mehandi, fancy dress competition, fashion show etc., will be the part of women’s festival.
Youth festival comprise events like flower decoration, solo singing, solo instrumental, debate competition, Indian classical dance, Indian folk dance (group), group fusion band, elocution competition, group song, mime, fashion show, hip-hop group competition etc. Patil said 10 folk art teams from Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will participate in the youth festival and perform their art.
