MANGALURU:
Biryal in Jevargi taluk of Gulbarga district recorded
maximum rainfall of 21.5mm in Karnataka in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on January 2. Uppinangady hobli in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district recorded maximum temperature of 38.7°C on January 1, 2015 at 3pm. Betageri hobli in Gadag taluk of Gadag district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 10.1°C at 3.15am on January 2.
The maximum temperature fell at many places over south interior Karnataka and Malnad region; so at a few places over north interior Karnataka and changed little over remaining parts of the state.
Minimum temperature fell at many places over the state. More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 57% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0% geographical area in the state.
Rainfall over the state is considered as isolated since 14% of the hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall of 2.5mm. Moderate rain was recorded in 69 gram panchayats; light rain in 129 gram panchayats; very light rain in 196 gram panchayats and no rain in remaining 1,548 GPs.
Karnataka for period from December 27 to January 2 recorded surplus rainfall of 54%. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 1.1mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 1.7mm.
For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on January 2, four geographical regions received 0.9mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 0.1mm, a surplus of 840%.
