ARARIA: The education department office in Araria district remained in focus in 2014 for embezzlement of government fund received by teachers/ headmasters for constructing school buildings.
Araria DM Narendra Singh has taken a serious view of long-pending issues of non-construction of various buildings, school rooms by different headmasters/ teachers despite receiving the fund from the government long back.

According to police sources over 20 FIRs have been lodged involving about Rs 4 crore. Many headmasters, teachers/siksha samiti secretaries of different schools are in Araria jail for alleged embezzlement of government fund. All these FIRs have been lodged at the initiative of DM Singh.
Besides, 11 FIRs have been lodged against various teachers and employees of the education department for committing forgery by issuing forged and bogus TET certificates to some of the teachers employed on contract under Palasi, Bhargama and Jokihat blocks. A separate FIR has also been lodged against an NGO in Jokihat block for collecting money for getting some youth employed in some schools meant for Mahadalit students.
Bungling in midday meal in some of the schools had become routine affairs in Araria and news of fraud in distribution of uniform amount were also pouring in almost daily at the district headquarters.
