4 dead, 3 critically hurt as car plunges down culvert in Mandsaur

Four labourers were killed, while three others were critically injured when the car in which they were travelling, plunged down a culvert in Bhanpura area of Mandsaur district on Wednesday early morning.

INDORE: Four labourers were killed, while three others were critically injured when the car in which they were travelling, plunged down a culvert in Bhanpura area of Mandsaur district on Wednesday early morning. All seven were labourers engaged in construction of toilets in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. Four deceased were natives of Damoh district.

The accident happened at around 2.30 am near Hotri village, 10 km from Bhanpura-Mandsaur, when the speeding private vehicle was on its way from Gandhi Sagar Dam to Jhalawar.
According to SP Mandsaur Manoj Kumar Sharma, the driver of the car failed to control the speeding vehicle, while turning it, consequently making the vehicle plunge down the culvert.
Four persons, including labour contractor Kamal Lodhi, 35, Sonu Singh, 24, Puran Singh, 32 and Vinod Singh, 23 died on the spot, while Satyanarayan Meena, 24, Sonu Meena, 24 and Dhiraj Meena, 23 sustained severe injuries.
“All the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, where they are stated critical,” Sharma added.
According to Mandsaur police sources, the six labourers and their contractor, most of them inebriated were going back to Jhalawar, after enjoying a picnic at Gandhi Sagar Dam in Mandsaur district.
