Bored of life, 90-year-old kills himself

A 90-year-old man was found was hanging at his residence at Chirag Nagar-Vartak Nagar in Thane on Tuesday. The incident came to light around 1.55pm when a neighbour went to see Pandurang Ramji Mane but was shocked to find him dead.

The visitor alerted the other neighbours and consequently Vartak Nagar police were informed about the incident. The police rushed to the spot, brought down the body and sent it to Thane civil hospital for a post mortem.

Prima facie, the police have come to the conclusion that the deceased committed suicide because he was bored of life. A case of accidental death has been registered after the police recorded the statements of Mane's family members who were out on work when the incident took place.

Investigation officer from Vartak Nagar police station V Patole said, "The decceased was found hanging from the ceiling fan. More details about the deceased will be gathered to know the root cause of action."
