MUMBAI: Wednesday marks a special Novena for St Michael’s Church in Mahim. The archbishop of Bombay, Oswald Cardinal Gracias, will unveil a painting of the Mother of Perpetual Succour which has been gifted to this church by the Vatican.
“The icon has been hand painted and touched to the original which is in Rome. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This is a great honour for us as this icon is the first of its kind in India. The Vatican has recognized that our Novenas are the largest devotion to the Mother of Perpetual Succour,” said parishioner Rita D’Sa, vice-president of the Bombay Catholic Sabha. Dignitaries from the community will be present at the 5pm dedication ceremony.
