BELAGAVI: Another unexpected shocker rapped to the family of Appanna Hanabar before it come out of the shock of losing its 23 year old member Anjana to the attack of man-eater tiger recently at Mudagai village in Khanapur taluk.
Police department has booked complete family of Appanna Hanabar in the case of stone-pelting upon police and forest personnel at Mudagai village on 25th December, second day of tiger killed Anjana, the wife of Appanna.

On that day, around 200 villagers led by local MLA Arvind Patil, were protesting against failure of the forest department and demanding immediate capture of animal. Protesters suddenly got aggressive and started stone pelting upon police and forest guards in which many personnel sustained with minor injuries. Incident had happened in the presence of former minister and present Chikkodi MP Prakash Hukkeri.
Department has registered two different suo motu cases against eight members of Hanabar family including Appanna and his mother and father and other two. Complaints have been registered in the name of Khanapur PSI U S Awati and constable Meerasab Mokashi. Family been blamed for taking law into hands and stopping the on duty police officials from discharging their duty by pelting stones. Cases have been booked under IPC Section 1860 (U/s-143, 147, 148, 149, 336 and 353).
The questions are being raised over just booking the family members of victim by registering suo motu complaint in hurry, when there were two hundred people involved in the incident. Police action is also come under suspicion for keeping away MLA Arvind Patil from the case who led the protest.
When asked PSI Awati said the case is booked based on preliminary investigation. Case is still under investigation stage and being an investigation officer, other people responsible for the incident also will be brought to the book. However, he denied replying to why MLA who led the protest spared from the case.
